D'vorah,or Deborah, was one of the most important Judges in the Tanakh. She was so powerful that the captain of the Israelite army, Barak, looked to her for guidance and would not fight without her accompaniment. Her epic poem, "Shirat D'vorah", the Song of Deborah, as it is known in English, exults in the power of God-inspired women to achieve victory. It acclaims the deed of Yael, who  handed a victory to the Israelites by hiding, feeding, then stabbing the fleeing Sisera while he slept. Touchingly, Deborah shows compassion for Sisera's bereaved mother. Her poem is usually coupled with the Torah portion containing another song: The Song of the Sea, a responsive chant led by Moses and Miriam.

D'vorah refers to herself as a "Mother in Israel". That is why I have honored her with a Biblical Mothers headress style kippah.  The tree under which she held court is represented by a charm dangling from a coin, while bee shaped dangles parade around the perimeter. Where there are bees, there is honey, so I used honey colored crystals and one large honey colored found object in making this statement piece.
