Judaism refers to the Four Mothers when talking about the women who helped birth our religious culture: Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah. Rachel's journey from petulant child bride to beautiful but jealous wife to cooperation with her sister and finally, to becoming the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, and the ancestor of King David -all that- is honored in this bridal headdress style kippah. Made from gold wire using a crochet technique, the kippah features tiny crystal dangles around the sides, and sports a Star of David/Magen David fashioned from silver bugle beads. Attached to the stars are found objects: charms I found at some place or another, that called to me to purchase them, but laid idle until they decided to become part of this yarmulke. You will feel stunning in this beautiful kippah, and I hope that you will also feel connected with Mother Rachel.
Note: The final two images are from a custom order. The customer loved the Rachel headdress kippah, but preferred the symbolism of the menorah, so I fashioned this one for his daughter to wear at her wedding. If you're interested in a fully personalized piece, please visit my custom order page!
