Ruth's friendship with her mother-in-law, Naomi, lead her to follow Naomi back to her own land. There, she met Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi's, while gleaning in the fields to support them. This was during Shavuot, the barley harvest, and so, barley shaped seed beads form the branches of the Tree of Life, while an Aleph made of golden bugle beads wraps around and through the Tree. Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet (Aleph- bet), which, according to tradition, was the first non-verbal sound of the first word of the Ten Commandments, "Anochi": wordless communication, which is at the heart of true friendship. Give to someone who is a mentor, a role model, a friend, or as a reminder to be your own best friend!
This can also pair with the Naomi kippah for a special couple gift, or perhaps for your Rabbi or Cantor!
